Drawings, Paintings, Photography, Sculpture, and Art Education

Nature has always been my ultimate source of inspiration.  Consequently, my admiration of the natural world has led me to pursue both the arts and sciences, in order to convey my appreciation for it. My scientific endeavors often inform my art. From my ecological studies in biology, nature’s incredible diversity has become increasingly apparent. My artwork reflects this amazing variation.

I have been drawing ever since I picked up a writing utensil, and I started making artwork of animals.  To this day, my art is entirely informed by nature and consequently very organic-looking.  My drawings and paintings are often of wildlife and natural landscapes, and very illustrative in style.  My sculptures are abstract and reference textural growth forms such as coral, tree roots, antlers, tree bark, and stone.

In all of my artwork, my goal is to convey to my audience the awe and adoration I feel towards the natural world, and hopefully evoke that feeling in them, just as I do when I am speaking directly to the public with words of advocacy.  When I am teaching art classes, I share this mentality with my students and draw inspiration from the outdoors.
